I think I'm going to tackle this project this weekend. I've found some good recipes online and I want to have an easy meal stockpile for when this little guy arrives.

Have you ever done it? Any advice? Any family faves?

No, I haven't. I have seen a couple of Pins on Pinterest about it, just haven't checked it out yet. But I would like to try it. Let me know how it goes!

I did a bunch of freezer cooking before my last son was born and it was terrific! I didn't do a major cooking session, but I would prepare 2 casseroles at a time, eat one that night and freeze the second one...and just did that over time. It worked well for me and I wasn't exhausted from a big cooking day. :)

Good idea, Ruth! Wish I had been doing that all along

I never got around to doing it this weekend (I'm sick and it's taking everything out of me)

DD wants to do this so she has meals in the freezer when her little guy arrives (she's due in June). I'd like to know more about it. My main concern is how to package the meals so they don't get freezer burn.

It must be a trend that's really catching on because just a few weeks ago I hadn't heard of Freezer cooking...at all. Then, just this week I have seen at least two recipe places/posty things on Pinterest and at another board a girl was going to a Freezer Dinner Party! (Wouldn't that be fun?!)

From Pinterest:

Did you ever get any freezer cooking done, alissa?

I used to do a big freezer cooking day once a month. I started it back when the book Once a Month Cooking came out - based on the ages of my kids it must have been about 20 years ago that I started it! YIKES!

I have several books and several tried and true freezer recipes.

Many months a friend of mine would come over and we would prepare about 50 meals between the two of us in one day! It was a very long day (6 children there as well) but it was so worth it the rest of the month. And I have really fun memories, too!

I haven't done it in a while, since we are empty nesters now, but lately I have been thinking about doing a modified smaller version.

Good luck!
